You’ve probably seen the word “holistic” everywhere lately.
On podcasts, on Instagram, on the side of supplement bottles.
It’s at risk of being one of those words like ‘clean’ where you nod along and think “okay but what does this actually mean for me?”.
So I want to talk about it, because holistic healing isn’t just a buzzword.
And it’s certainly not just drinking a green juice to suddenly feel like you’re on top of the world.
What Holistic Healing Actually Means (In Real Life)
At its core, holistic healing is about looking at you as a whole person.
Not just your symptoms, not just what showed up on your last blood test, but everything that makes up your day to day life.
- Your sleep
- Your stress
- What you’re eating
- How you’re feeling emotionally
- What your schedule looks like
- How your body responds to all of it
Because your body doesn’t separate these things.
Even though we often try to.
Stress, digestion, sleep, hormones… they are all connected.
And when one area is out of balance, it can begin to affect the others.
Why This Matters More Than You Think
You might have had this experience before.
You go to the doctor.
You explain how you’ve been feeling.
They run some tests.
And everything comes back “normal.”
And you’re sitting there thinking “Okay… but I still feel awful?”
That disconnect can be really frustrating.
So let me reassure you.
Just because something hasn’t been flagged yet doesn’t mean your body is fine.
It just means we haven’t looked at the full picture yet.
What Holistic Healing Does Differently
Instead of asking:
“What symptoms are we dealing with?”
We start asking:
“Why is this happening in the first place?”
Because your body isn’t random.
It’s responsive.
For example:
- You might be dealing with bloating
But the root could be stress or gut imbalance
- You might feel exhausted all the time
But the root could be sleep quality, hormones, or nutrient deficiencies
- You might feel anxious or overwhelmed
But your nervous system could be stuck in a constant stress response
Holistic healing connects those dots.
It doesn’t just look at what’s happening, it looks at why.
It’s Not About Overhauling Your Entire Life
This is where a lot of people get overwhelmed.
They think holistic healing means:
Cutting out everything they enjoy
Waking up at 5am
Meditating for an hour
Drinking only green juices.
And that’s not it, at all.
Your body doesn’t need extremes, it needs consistency.
And it responds really well to small, supportive changes.
This might look like:
✨ Actually drinking water throughout the day instead of remembering at 9pm
✨ Eating meals that leave you feeling full and stable instead of crashing an hour later
✨ Taking five minutes to pause instead of pushing through everything
✨ Noticing when your body feels stressed instead of ignoring it
Nothing dramatic, just supportive.
Healing Isn’t Linear (And That’s Normal)
There will be days where you feel like you’ve got it figured out.
And days where everything feels a little off again.
That doesn’t mean you’ve gone backwards.
It just means your body is adjusting.
Learning.
Responding.
Healing isn’t about doing everything perfectly.
It’s about staying connected to what your body needs.
If You’re Ready to Look at the Full Picture
If you’ve been feeling like something isn’t quite right, but you can’t fully explain it…
Or you feel like you’ve been managing symptoms without real answers…
This is where a more holistic, root cause approach can make a real difference.
Through functional medicine, we look at your body as a whole system and start connecting the dots in a way that actually makes sense.
